See the error HT made there? That's right, the meme is factually inaccurate. It wasn't over 4 years. Most people, who are still wrong, but manage to know that WW2 started in 1939 (the Yanks turned up late), so that would be 6 years, over the course of the war. But even that is the wrong time scale. People, who aren't mentally handicapped, know that the time scale is over a span of 12 years.

In third world countries, there is actually a need to wash rice. In the Western world, the hygiene standard is up where washing the rice is more of a preference. I eat a lot of rice, and I have never seen black specks in it. Washing off the starch make lighter/fluffier rice, as the starch make it all gooey. In some dishes, this is desirable.

I have read some brands do add a coating of vitamins to their rice, personally I've never seen it. So it may only be a murican thing, but in those cases you shouldn't wash the rice for obvious reasons.

There's also the interpretation, due to the fact the movie satirizes consumerism and the apathy of 80's society, that Bateman can't get arrested because society doesn't care either. That even a killer like Bateman couldn't get arrested leaving him unfulfilled.
