Kiwifarms Gossip & Slap Fights When did you turn on Kiwi Farms?

These threads cover general gossip and interacting with Kiwifarms (openly calling them out).
I’ve been a member since 2014 and the politisperging has always been around tbh. The political slant has changed but not the spergery itself. Also so many lolcows now feel the need to blather on about politics that it’s going to tough to actively shut off that conversation. I don’t know how you could have a discussion about ADF or Brianna Wu without some of it including politics at this point.

He's weirdly inconsistently bipolar with whom he bans when people call him out.

Like you get banned for calling him a pussy like @Basil II, but then heyitsmike gets to stay even though he makes fun of Null for the blockland shit right to his face.

Like I can understand me getting banned, I legitimately got in his shit repeatedly and threw some heavy accusations at him in the immediate aftermath of a federal inquiry, but the Basil thing was ridiculous. I don't agree with either case, but at least in mine he had, like, an excuse. Some of these bans he's handing out are completely arbitrary appeals to his fee-fees.

I still love how Josh went from banning people over them making fun of Twinkie to demodding her in the exact same timeframe.

I've been there close to five years now and I still love the site and a majority of the userbase. While I'm fatigued by some of the larger lolcow cults and just overall outrage culture a lot of the site needlessly perpetuates, I quite enjoy having a place to freely discuss whatever I want in the off-topic section. There are a lot of users who genuinely have thoughtful and enjoyable posts to read.

That being said null is what has made me a lot more leery towards the site. He is often needlessly petty and sour. I cannot remember the last time I've seen him come off as enjoying himself and I think his mood tends to bleed into the site.
I applaud his efforts to keep the site running, I know a lot of people laugh at the fact that KF is down a lot and he keeps breaking shit. I honestly think though that with the scope of the site and the number of users he is doing an excellent job of keeping it afloat given the frequency of attacks.

What I find less excusable is his treatment of his userbase.
Josh is, like I said, bitter. He is not a fun guy to hang around and generally feels completely dismissive towards anyone who doesn't think exactly the same way he does. While he often gripes and moans to everyone in earshot, he doesn't actually want any advice he hasn't already decided on taking himself. He wants to vent and complain, but any efforts to put in advice he doesn't want to hear and you are a dumb retard. He seems to be getting gradually more maniac in his ranting and raving as well.

Ontop of that he places himself high on a pedestal, he makes a show out of taking down and owning people. I think the first time I recognized this was the initial betting pool thread on whether or not Corbin Dallas Multipass should be banned. Corbin was a petty motherfucker who would constantly harass mods about any and all threadbans he would receive and was seen as a pest on the mod side. All things considered though, he was a pretty average poster by A&H standards and I don't think he was particularly notable until after his ban. Why then, when he poked one too many times was there a massive public pool? "Lol this guy is annoying should we ban him? haha" I think even if you hate the guy it sets a majorly bad president going forward. He could have just been quietly euthanized like everybody else. Bans should only be used if the user is clearly a troll or blatantly breaking rules. Making a show of the matter is some megalomaniacal powertrip.

Since that whole affair I have been highly tuned to banned users and while I think users who insult null directly to his face are just asking for trouble the amount of users banned for simple dissenting opinions is concerning.

I also hold the (unpopular) opinion that his treatment towards DMCA takedown requests and other legal documents is unprofessional and embarrassing. While many cows send forth requests that are clearly fraudulent and easily ignored he doesn't need to make a show of putting them on the front page. Share them in the appropriate cow thread, let people know the idiot is trying to get something removed. Don't feel the need to lay down a sick burn. I know he says he only shares "interesting ones" but I get the vibe he only shares when he thinks he's come up with something incredibly witty.

Another (super) unpopular opinion is that his response to the New Zealand government is completely uncalled for and does nothing but give the site a bad rap. The footage deserves to stay up and public and he shouldn't have to hand over user's IP addresses, however, responding to a legal request saying you don't care about their "faggot law" is literally high-school tier.


TLDR. Kiwifarms is actually a pretty cozy site. Shame the owner is a powertripping prick.

Articles and News'/Happening's response to the pandemic after March 2020 or so was already equal parts selfish, delusional and completely driven by narrow American partisan concerns. I can stand a lot, but this is too goddamn far for me. I'm not going stop them having their little far-right hugbox to whine and kvetch about in, but I want no part of it anymore.

I think that, if the site weren't on the FBI watchlist before, it certainly was after Null's little message to the New Zealand cops, either because the New Zealanders complained to the US authorities or the the authorities themselves saw it on the news and put KF on the naughty list.

I honestly think that, someday, another schizo-poster is going to post his adventures in days prior on Kiwi Farms. But instead of talking coke grimaces and burning down clinics, I think it will be far right-wing conspiracy memes and how he decided to shoot up some place (e.g. a local Democratic Party HQ, vaccination center) and the poor fuckers therewithin. Which will get massive media attention, which will then get either the Feds' attention, get Josh to FUCKING. DELETE. EVERYTHING. or some combination of the two.

The fact that vax vs. anti-vax align with party lines should tell you how absolutely entrenched everyone is in politics. This is not something exclusive to KF. And ya know, to it's credit (and OF's I assume), it's still one of the best places to have a discussion without worrying about catching ban for your opinions.
 
When I realized that they were trying way too hard to seem like they were above it all. Like, you're posting on a gossip rag about literal nobodies, you're not doing anything you couldn't get somewhere like Lipstick Alley or The Dirty. Sure, laugh about "lolcows" all you want, but it really does ruin the whole site when most, if not all, of the userbase, plus the literal admin himself, would qualify as a lolcow by their own standards. It's like a fat person at WalMart saying that at least they don't need to put around on a scooter like all the other fatsos: you're still fat, why are you acting like you're not?

Imagine gatekeeping gossiping about others and thinking you're above "normies" because you know about a fat slob in Kentucky.

When the Slatons got their show on TLC, a lot of 'em were literally worried normies would ruin the fun. Like, what gives? I thought Kiwi Farms was supposed to be about lolcows, not full of 'em.

The strangest moment was when I didn't get banned despite metaphorically rubbing my cock on his forehead in public. I figure Null didn't want to deal with any potential shitstorms because (apparently) a lot of KF members liked me, but fuck if I know.
