I would like to appeal this suspension which we feel on Onionfarms is unfair.

Onionfarms is a forum that is devoted to internet drama and gossip concerning Lolcows (niche celebrities), celebrities, and political drama (countries and heads of state [i.e. political cows]) nothing more nothing less. Here is Section 3 of your license that you claim Onionfarms has violated.

You undertake to ensure that the Software is not used by You or others to engage in or promote: illegal activity; any activity that would violate the rights of third parties; defamation, discrimination, harassment, hatred or harm of third parties.

We don’t engage in or promote any illegal activity. I have not been contacted by any law enforcement agency regarding illegal conduct. We are in good standing with our ISP. There are no court orders against us. I can assure you that no one on my staff advocates harming or outside harassment of any third party. Because of the challenging nature of running a forum such as this we all have a vested interest in making sure what we do is legal

Our relationship with Kiwifarms – Here is what was inspired by Kiwifarms

The Onionfarms logo (actually there are 2 of them) came from the idea of an onion having many layers. I came up with the idea of layers of gossip and drama.

The Onionfarms logo (the one with the green leaves and the blue dew drop) on those themes without the asterisk was inspired by the green kiwifarms.net logo with the giant teardrop.

The Onionfarms logo (the purple smiling onion) was not mine. It was a former admin that came up with it.

Yes. The general layout covering “lolcows” of Onionfarms was inspired by Kiwifarms.net. However even kiwifarms.net covers both celebrities as well as lolcows.

The Audience

Probably 95%+ of the members on Onionfarms are either Kiwis, former Kiwis, people from Encyclopedia Dramatica, people from other lolcow forums such as the now defunct lolcow.org forum or the Metokur forum or people who were followers of CWC. This s (Christine Weston Chandler). The people who join are people who like to keep up with internet trends, memes and culture which of course includes lolcows. This is simply the nature of the forum. Membership in multiple forums is normal for this subset. I knew this from the very beginning when I started Onionfarms.

Onionfarms is a separate entity from the Kiwifarms.

Onionfarms is a separate forum from the Kiwifarms. Kiwifarms does not control Onionfarms and neither does Onionfarms control Kiwifarms. Yes, we both have threads on each other.

We have a different atmosphere than the Kiwifarms. We are more relaxed and easygoing than the kiwifarms. We are moving in the direction of covering countries and heads of state. Kiwifarms in general does not.

Finally I would like to add that the staff who are helping to build Onionfarms are very proud of what we have accomplished. We are proud to be a part of the HostGator and Xenforo Community and hope you will reconsider your decision.

If we could get Tor and I2P addresses, that would be sooooooooo nice.

An onion themed site that even already uses the Tor colors... It fits so perfectly...

Very nice. Don't forget I2P too, it's a little bit more complicated to set up, but faster than Tor as of late, and more resistant against DDoS (if you're using the default Java implementation of I2P)
ngl I don't know very much about I2P, I know all about freenet and tor, I'll look into what is necessary in providing an IP2 version of the site as well but I'm sure we'll get an onion site up before an I2P site.

great letter ken
gets straight to the point in a coherent and rational matter without rambling on about journos and female identifying men

I double checked with the company doing the migrating. Apparently we have 1654 members registered not 1086. Either there was something incorrect in Xenforo or we need a plug-in to check for sock puppets.
Socks would be added to the overall number of users; I believe the issue lays in the "inactive" tag overwriting the "Registered" user group. I went in and checked and there were 580-something users who were not in the "Registered" user group who had the "dead niggo" banner for inactive members. I bulk added all of the users without the registered tag to the "Registered" group and rebuilt the member cache but it didn't change the overall user-count displayed on the site.

Either way. Will this have any bearing on the amount of money the person you're using will require to migrate the site? Can't lie, I'm secretly crossing my fingers that the migration idea becomes inoperable and we stick with what we have.

I've been going over it and myBB has many security vulnerabilities, some even being discovered only last year which are substantial, critical vulnerabilities that would leave the site seriously vulnerable to SQL injections and hijacking via remote code execution. I have no doubt that... given enough time I could make myBB look and feel sort of like XF, but it would be cosmetic at best; but nothing that I or anyone that can be "outsourced" can do can patch out the vulnerabilities; nor.. in actual fact, make the site actually function in a way that would please people.

This will be the last thing I say on this subject, I promise; I'm sure it must be annoying. XenForo will not go to HostGator, nor will XenForo sue you. There are many many communities which revolve around nulled xenforo and many many sites do not have a license for XF but still use the software.
XenForo doesn't care what you do with the software you have, they're simply no longer supporting the site; which means they won't provide updates or support for the site, which is fine because we don't need them. The site is stable, the site is in a good place, and I don't know what it was that changed your mind about this issue when previously you said that you'd honor the majority of user feedback and stay with the unlicensed XF to now being adamant on the migration; and I don't know if there's anything I can say to you, however based in reality it is, that will alleviate your concerns; but the true and honest simple facts of the matter are that XF doesn't give a shit what we do, and they don't care one way or the other if we continue using the software, the only thing that will change is that they will no longer support the software that we're using, they won't give you updates for it, they won't support the site if there are issues with it. That is literally all that will change; and I can maintain the site (for FREE), this is not an issue in the slightest.

There are not going to be any legal or litigious consequences and XF isn't going to go to the host to complain; this simply isn't going to happen and on the 0.000001% chance that it does, I'll literally take 100% responsibility for it myself.
