United States News and Drama Wildfires LA edition

More LA Youtubers posting videos, for example this guy with 108k subs:

This video also dives into the human stories behind the disaster. I share how my extended family, friends, and clients were impacted by the Palisades Fire 2025 and how the Eaton Fire 2025 contributed to the challenges faced by first responders. The Pasadena Fire and the Altadena Fire added further complexity to this unprecedented fire season. Together, these fires have reshaped Los Angeles, leaving us to ask: how can we rebuild and prepare for the future?

More vlogs from LA Youtubers. This woman Merle O'Neal has a 165k channel cooking/trying out vegan food and had to evactuate with her pets:

Let's Talk About The LA Fires

Another midrange Youtuber with 100k+ subs:

Update on our home after being EVACUATED From The Los Angeles Fires!

Smaller LA Youtubers (this one with 16k subs) keep posting too:

Here’s what’s happening in Los Angeles right now and a MAJOR way you can help.

The more of these videos I watch, the more I sense that LA Youtubers are putting out these videos because they're trying to counter mainstream narratives about the wildfires instead of reinforcing them. My impression is that LA Youtubers, even the big ones with millions of subscribers and 100s of 1000s of views, do not feel seen by the mainstream media the way traditional celebrities are, so they have to make sure their stories get out on their own by using their own platforms. A lot of these LA Youtubers are asking their subscribers to chip in while posting links to favourites sites they can donate, so for a lot of these LA Youtubers their first priority is aid, not some bullshit politics.

I've been talking with some people I know in SoCal, and it seems like they're not only feeling devastated, but also concerned about the current situation. Everyone keeps telling me it's a complete shit show, and the recovery efforts aren't going well. There's been a lot of looting and crime, and resources seem to be lacking.

@kiwifails can't stand that guy

Leftists being accelerationists again:

The Case For Letting Malibu Burn w/ Jake Flores

Jamie Peck is joined by Jake Flores (@feraljokes) of Pod Damn America (@poddamnamerica) to discuss Mike Davis’ 1998 essay “The Case For Letting Malibu Burn,” which is also the third chapter in his book “Ecology of Fear: Los Angeles and the Imagination of Disaster” (Verso, 1998). In this controversial-at-the-time essay, Davis maps the fire ecology of the Malibu coast and explains why ongoing overdevelopment of this area is the height of capitalist folly.

Aerial map shows devastation

These two crypto-guys are discussing rebuilding, but I don't think all those people who lost their homes are gonna come back:

My House Burned. Here's What I Learned About Insurance

This Youtuber explains why the people who lost their homes in PP will not be coming back: even if they do try and rebuild their homes (with less money than they put into the first home, so they won't be able to rebuilt with better, more durable materials), they still won't be able to get the new house insured.

Why California Is Always On Fire

Of course the PDS sufferers just had to come out of the woodwork ...

The fires are STILL not fully extinguished. New fires are popping up every day and the upcoming rains won't do much to stop the ones that are raging:

This is so misguided:

How the fuck are all those people gonna #StayInLA?
Two entire hoods are GONE! Those people are NOT gonna #StayInLA
Even those evacuating had to find hotels and AirBnBs far outside of LA just to have a place to stay for while.

No, they're not gonna stay and they should definitely not be guilt-tripped with stupid hashtag campaigns for wanting to GFTO after losing everything.

It took them three fucking weeks to contain the fires...
