United States News and Drama Wildfires LA edition

There you go, they DO have water, lots and lots of it (because theere was a lot of rain in the previous years, more than usual), they just aren't pumping it:

This family has a pool pump... but LAFD doesn't? I've seen a lot of footage of the damage, and in video after video I see pools that are is still filled with water while the nearby house is gone, and all I'm thinking is, the LAFD couldn't just place a pump in that pool and use that water?

Mel Gibson was alluding to something interesting on Fox the other day. They really want to bring that low income housing into LA, and just like Maui look who benefits from these fires.

Far be it for me to be a conspiracy theorist or anything, but it's just like San Francisco. These lawmakers let the crime get out of control and then they snatch up real estate for pennies on the dollar because they created fucking slums. You know they're going to gentrify those neighborhoods later on down the line and make a killing.

Wasn't that the plot to robocop?

I wanted to see what lefty Youtubers are saying about the wildfires, so I found this lefty guy who has a small 13k channel who actually lives in LA himself:

Making Sense of the Los Angeles Wildfires + Disaster Communism

And I hate that we have to think about the end of the world.

/r/Collapse was a mistake.

Oh, absolutely. Like I wrote above, I went over to BlueSky, where all the lefties hang out in their echo chamber hug-box, to read what they were saying about the wildfares and the fact that two suburbs of LA have now been literally completely decimated. Here's the thread I read, where they were openly talking about what you just mentioned (I'm not gonna screengrab and cross-post the whole thread cos it's a lot, just go over and read):

So this is how the game is played:

1) you allow rich people to develop an otherwise uninhabitable area that you know is high risk (mudslides, wildfires, etc)

2) you allow insurance companies to insure them for a little while (until they do their math and figure out the long game), then allow them to pull insurance

3) inevitable/predictable "extreme event" happens

4) the affected people decide against building back their homes because they can only get $3 million max from emergency funds for their originally $8 - $25 million home, and even if they were to rebuild, they would not be able to get the new house insured.

5) "the state needs to control the land", ie government usurps the now unused, vacant land and "builds dense" (Democrat slang for housing migrants)

Here's another Youtube channel I'm following that I find very informative, from someone who has actually worked in fire mapping professionally:

Independent wildfire and water-related reporting. Host Zeke Lunder has 25 years experience in wildland fire management and California water issues. During wildfire season we provide UNOFFICIAL updates on major California fires. When fire season calms down, we work on stories about fire, water, and forest management. Because of the critical state of our forests and watersheds, we believe every Californian needs to learn as much as they can about wildfire, water, and forestry in order to make decisions about where to live, where to invest, who to vote for, how to maintain a property, and when to evacuate. Land management is complicated, but living safely with fire, flooding, and other natural hazards requires the active participation of everyone affected.

To give you an idea, he does these types of Livestreams:

Here is the latest Livestream:

1/12/2025 - The Fires Are Mostly Out, Now the Hard Part

He claims at the Eaton fire is mostly under control (that's the one that wiped Altadena off the map and even went into Pasadena), let's hope he's right come Wednesday.

Man arrested near LA fires with possible blowtorch is an illegal immigrant: ICE sources
A man seen in a viral video being confronted and apprehended by Los Angeles residents, and who was eventually arrested by police with an alleged blowtorch, is an illegal immigrant from Mexico, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sources tell Fox News.

Los Angeles police took the man into custody after a group of local residents grabbed him near the Kenneth Fire, allegedly carrying a blowtorch, according to video from Fox 11 Los Angeles.

He is shown holding a torch head and a yellow fuel tank, before being tackled to the ground by at least five residents.

It would be top kek if California built free housing for illegals on the newly available land. Then one could say the invaders' occupation is literally built on the ashes of the West, instead of only figuratively.
Typical politician. Fires still raging and bodies aren't even cold yet, and he's right there with a plan to power grab. Never let a good tragedy go to waste. Also, I told you so.

Gavin Newsom says he's already 'reimagining LA 2.0' post-wildfire, and that California needs a 'Marshall Plan' to rebuild

More Youtubers are posting their evacuation videos.

My Experience During a California Wildfire we had to EVACUATE

Even the LA drag queens are evacuating now with their wigs...

Markiplier (37 million subs) was evacuated and fortunately there was no damage to his house, though he did have to saw down out a lot of fallen trees in his neighbourhood:

I Was Evacuated from the LA Fires

Julien, another LA Youtuber with a (Twitch) gaming channel with half a million subs has evacuated to a San Diego AirBnB, which he said was hard to find:

we evacuated los angeles (an update)

LA Youtuber Ethan "Tampon tier list" Nestor (2+ millions subs) confirms that most of Altadena is gone:

We Evacuated From the LA Fires

This weirdo bird lady, that nevertheless had managed to gather 226k subs (LA Youtubers always hitting those big numbers regardless of what they're posting about), posted this video:
