If she got mad by someone saying that, it just means she were immature and it hit too close to home. Those are the types who really shouldn't give birth, as they believe they are gonna magically turn mature after birth. While in practice, they burn out. Fast.
Dunno how much she use the farms, but a mother does not have time for that. If they aren't neglecting their kid.

Eh, it depends on what cats are used to. My last cat was a rescue, dunno about age when I got him. Not a kitten at least. We had a deep bound and he would scratch up my sister. While I did wash him plenty of times without being hurt.
