Has anyone seen Josh talking about that gay new moderator approval for new posters thingy that @Boingotango documented? I figured he'd have made a 'woe-is-me' post about it but I can't seem to find anything.


(Although one thing I did find was this, from the "Get me out of this shithole" request he made:

Rate me late, but I'd assumed that he posted the thread, then immediately got inundated with those spam comments, so he deleted them all in a tard rage and locked the thread. But those timestamps suggest that he preemptively locked the thread: i.e. he didn't actually get any spam yet, but the thought alone of people having fun on the Internet and responding to his serious question with jokes was too much for him to bear. Goddamn.)
 
My guess on the registration thing: Hes getting tons of new users wanting to post about politics (something he's trying to guide the site away from) and this is a new way for him to guide things away from that.

Devils advocate advice: If he wants to throw rocks at us and divorce politics from his forum, he can redirect it here like he does with the ban message for lolcow.farm. Prob not the best idea to do this when he's trying to push a fundraiser tho

You really gotta love that Josh relies totally upon donations, yet is making increasingly more and more difficult to actually become part of the community (which if you are giving him money you want to be apart of) besides the fact that everyone is basically openly hostile to new users (kinda standard internet shit), the mods even support this behavior and are fairly likely to ban any new users who is reported by anyone for almost any reason.
He makes you wait 2 weeks before you can join chat.
His discord mods routinely ban new accounts out of pure paranoia.
He will sporadically make registration admin approval only to try and stop da troles
And in general his increasingly faggier behavior and public butthurt probably isn't a big draw for new users either.

The chat's been locked down since the CWCki days. Its Josh's personal hugbox and he'll ban you for so much as giving an opinion he disagrees with like the petulant child he is. He's schizo as fuck and calls new users "the fresh blood Kiwifarms needs to become fun again" yet in the same breath says 2019/2020 users could never appreciate how he threw away his life, money, family, and friends to run the website and that they couldn't be trusted to mod the gunt subforum. On the other side of the Kiwi Koin he says the same thing about old users such as "We need more 2013 users!11!" but then bans people for "being angry oldfags that sit around all day and bitch about the site" (Which is true, but I digress).

The admin account approval mechanism is hilarious and has never stopped a single one of my sock accounts from going through. I believe he turns it on for specific IP ranges as well based on what I've observed, but someone would have to do some experimentation with it to confirm it.

Hahaha, best part of Onion Farms is getting to see other people witnessing the same things I do, but you just can't talk about on Kiwi Farms without eating a ban.


Yes I have done the research he definitely does this. I can tell when he puts it on full admin approval because it'll still be up when I switch to other IPs.

Josh really should just accept the fact that the site's never gonna be like it's golden days ever again, and that the best thing he can do at this point is simply call it quits and shut it down.

I find Turks to be pretty annoying as there were constant conflicts between them and Kurds in Berlin caused by the war in Syria. Berlin is a complete shithole by itself, but having two different groups of unibrowed men clobbering each other doesn't help.

I think he wants real serious business answers, from knowledgeable and competent people who know the relevant regulations and laws, not meme answers from retards and trolls. Except, of course, he has no way of where he can go to get the former, hence the query to his forum full of the later. I think deep down he might know that he's not going to get what he wants here, but he has no options, as the forum is his only real connection to the outside world.
