Nobody has the technology to integrate with Microsoft Windows except Microsoft. That's why there are no drivers or software applications that don't come from official sources. Your computer is basically a tractor.
No, Joshua is parroting a good point actually.

You are 100% dependent on Deere for repairs to any part of the equipment that is electronically controlled, including the engine, and any feature that is implemented as a software subscription. like the GPS functions. The software features are what make these machines worth it over say, your old trusty 70s or 80s Deere, and are essential to the factory farming model that is popular these days.

You cannot run your own software on these things, or modify the provided software, without extensive reverse engineering, If you do that, and offer your solution to other people, Deere will sue you. As I recall, Deere also makes it really difficult to develop or use any 3rd party solutions that compete with Deere's in-house offering.

It took years of legal wrangling to get Deere to make available the basic diagnostic software, which you need to make repairs on any part of the equipment that is electronically controlled. You of course have to buy a subscription for if you want to use it, and keep paying if you want to keep using it.

Deere is the Apple of the agricultural world.

Oh and, you haven't been able to load unsigned drivers on Windows for many years now. Yes, you can turn off driver signature enforcement for testing purposes, but it's a pain in the ass, deliberately temporary by design, and isn't something you could realistically expect an end user to do. As well, it is only a matter of time before Microsoft tries pushing a legacy-free edition of Windows, which will only run signed code obtained from official sources, just like they've already attempted with S-mode.

He makes a fair point that vendor lock-in is bad, but then shits the bed entirely by comparing a vendor-specific closed ecosystem that you're forced to use with a proprietary operating system written for a standard computer architecture that has documented APIs and is completely voluntary to use.

Also the John Deere shit had been reverse engineered, it's awkward but not impossible to get around.

Bad news to Lidl and MATI archiver doubters... it looks like Lidl posted during stream and archiver was active in chat. I guess they're just so indistinguishable from Joshy that they seem like they are alts. Unless Joshy set up something beforehand (he's too fat/lazy for that)

Or could have been an oldfag pal, so he could "own da /pol/tards". He says BP pays for the bulk of the site's operating costs so entirely possible.

I just hope it gets better, or worse, whatever. SA went out with a whimper, I want KF to go out with a bang. Come on fat troons/catladies,I know you can do it!

Android? Joshua didn't mention, but I am assuming that's what he meant because I don't think iOS has ever had a ROM scene, and he's too young/stupid to know about the various smart device platforms that came before Android and iOS.

Android is ever increasingly locked down both in both the operating system itself and what you're allowed to do as a software developer. A lot of Android devices have permanently locked bootloaders which means you aren't flashing any operating system that isn't digitally signed on such a device. You can still sideload apps and 3rd party app stores, but Google introduces new restrictions on what you can do with every version, such as how you can't record calls anymore, or how it's such a fucking pain in the ass to do SMS backups, or how increasingly difficult it is to write a functionally useful SMB or NFS file server or client for the platform, or how the concept of a NANDroid backup is almost completely obsolete and forgotten. The trend is to be locked into whatever solution Google offers, and fuck you if you don't want your data on Google's cloud. It didn't use to be this way, just like how you didn't use to need a fucking subscription to diagnose and repair your diesel engine that you bought and paid for.

iOS has always been vendor lock-in from day one. The first version didn't even have the App Store, that came later. Apple dictates what you can and can't do with their mobile devices, and the only way around that is through reverse engineering and software exploits.

There is a ton more vendor lock-in now than there used to be, and it's only ever getting worse from here on out.

What about equipment still under warranty? What about next.version? Do you remember the PlayStation 3 hacking scene, where you basically had to choose between playing a new game, or retaining some old system software that was CFW capable?

Remember when they removed OtherOS?

@Moontroon josh said MS windows. He made the comparison of windows running on commodity hardware to highly specialised industrial machinery

I didn't read most of your post because it missed the point entirely so I didn't bother to waste my time on it.

If you don't wanna get locked in to John Deere infrastructure I guess don't buy their tractors, fairy easy problem to solve. If you're jailbreaking your tractor then you aren't fussed about warranty, so I guess we can what-if ourselves into a coma.

I dont condone sleeping around let alone diddling kids, but I have zero sympathy for these whorish girls who lie about ages. I thought we shouldnt assume female ages? Also, the website she met Cody through asks if the user is 17+, so she clearly lied. At this rate men should be asking for drivers license from any women for one nights standas
I mean that's kinda here nor there hen it comes to Josh though since he completely trashes people for like dating someone 5 years younger but this is ok. Plus he's always crying about the whole mint salad thing with dick masterson which is him concerning himself with the actions of a fully legal aged whore because it benefits him in his fight against masterson. Guy is a total joke and a hypocrite.
