At minimum you know of shit like them hosting certain videos or having the dox of certain trannies or that its where you go if you want to know the entire background of e-celebs.
if you know any e-celebs on youtube or twitch you know kiwifarms. its like not knowing what tinder was in the fall of 2013 as a young adult, you'd be the exception, most people around you would have at least heard if not knew someone on it. If Shane Gillis some fratboy ex-college football bro knows what kiwifarms is or can at least articulate that he does after drinking an entire case of beer by himself for some stupid podcast game on the joe rogan experience (its a small podcast i'm sure you never heard of it) , i'm sure the average young person has at least heard of it.
now just because you heard of it doesn't mean you're a poweruser on it, but at minimum you know it because its "star" recently got arrested for raping his own mother or because they told the NZ government to go fuck itself or various other lawyers.
A lot of people here seem to forget that Kiwifarms is the forums of the Cwcki, and where you go to get the latest scoops on the motherfucker that was trending on twitter globally when he got arrested. People still act like its some secret club the same way people do 4chan. Kiwifarms right now is on par with where facebook or youtube was in 2005 in terms of recognizably which is amazing considering the reputation kiwifarms has.

there's a selection bias, if you ask people if they're subscribed to any youtubers or twitch streamers and then if they say yes proceed to ask the question you'll get a lot more hits. if you're already extremely online you will have heard the name like when the host of Taylor Swift's boyfriend's favorite podcast messed up the name when talking about chris-chan on an episode recently. of course you probably don't know who taylor swift is so why would you give a shit.

This is quite true in my experience. Kiwi Farms? Never heard of it. Chris Chan? Who's that? On and on, it goes. I've even mentioned certain popular "lolcows" to people, and nobody cares. Todd's right - most folks really couldn't care less. I've asked quite a lot of people, across the spectrum, and nobody knows, and if I tried to explain it all, the gamut of responses ran from "mmm, that's weird, yeah," to "I don't really care." I've found that a lot of people really don't know internet slang, either. Incel? SJW? I've met one person, one, who actually knew what "woke" meant. And these aren't just normies, either. A lot of them are quite online themselves.

TBH, I think anyone other than him at the helm of KF, there wouldn't be a KF. It would've either given into increasing SJW censorship demands long ago, or they would've given up, decided it was too much hassle and moved on to other things. I like the internet better with crazy people like Null on it. I just wish Null himself wasn't so cranky and was happier, is all. I mean, I get that he relishes being able to stick it to the troons and that all the Kiwis get vicarious pleasure from watching him beat them at their own game, but I do wonder if this cat-and-mouse game with the troons is really making him happy at a deeper level. I know a lot of people see Null as a destructive force but my impression of Null is that he's at heart a creative person. Hence why he briefly studied literature and why got into world building at Blockland, that was a kid's creative impulse that was kinda perverted by the social aspect of that forum. Null wants to make things, he definitely sees KF as his creation (there's also something blatantly aesthetic about the presentation of lolcows on KF, like it's "a gallery of fools"), but is this really how he wants to express his creativity? I remember watching Null's programming series on his personal channel and noticing how calm and zoned-out he sounded in those videos. There's something about programming that gets Null to that Zen state that nothing else does. Why can't he put that to better use than just on KF? I even told him something to that effect in an e-mail, and Null being Null I guess he took it as a backhanded insult, but I still wonder what life could be like for him after or past KF.
