It was just bad luck with the first migration but I am considering throwing in the towel with MyBB. We had a fairly good forum with Simple Machines. The add-ons work better than with MyBB. There were some pretty cool themes. I recently posted another advertisement about adding tabbed pages to the future Onionfarms.net site. It would cost $800. I did not commit to anything. The developer I have is on holiday (Diwali festival in India). He will be back on Thursday or Friday. The big drawback with Simple Machines is there are no thread prefixes. One way to partially compensate is to use an Excel Spreadsheet to list the topics and being able to use the filter to sort them. As far as listing the updates and happenings like Kiwifarms, I think a comprehensive listing with the corresponding links using WordPress would work out. What's your opinion on this?

Now before lurkers jump the gun on this, onionfarms.com is staying with Xenforo. It is Onionfarms.net ( countries) I am talking about.

Well how far into the migration is it with MyBB?

Try PHPBB.

It's great software, with a great selection of themes available.

There is one security hole that the devs refuse to close for ideological reasons (ie. catering to EU-niggers who don't want to accept cookies) but this only affects situations where all your users come from the same IP (ie. Tor) and can easily be closed for Tor forums. I have a PHPBB site up on Tor right now for testing.

The posts and some avatars migrated. The attachments and pictures did not.
I'm going to assume that Xenforo stores data like every other forum; userdata/posts in SQL, attachments/images/avatars in folders.

This means you just copy the data from the folders on the old forum to the correct folders on the new forum, barring any filename issues... An incredibly simple task that a pahjeet isn't going to do for free, lol.

I highly recommend you start playing with SQL, PHP, and Apache in your spare time. You need to start doing these things for yourself, or at least doing these things with the help of your head admin.

The idea of letting someone else touch my server makes me uncomfortable, and the idea of letting a pahjeet touch it makes me MATI.

What would it take to finish getting that migrated over? It may be simpler to finish that up and seems to have more of the functionality you want for it.
See above.

who cares about .net jajaja

This is a practice forum with a theme I downloaded using Simple Machines. There was also an easy mod to install for pages. What you are seeing here is a screengrab of the forum that someone would see as a guest if they clicked on the pages tab. We can make as many pages as we want, so we can have a separate updates page for Onionfarms.com, Onionfarms.net. The plugins were easier to install compared to MyBB. The only disadvantage is the thread prefixes which is not a feature in Simple Machines but I will figure a way around that.

In response to people of interest asking that individual threads be removed, I have updated the policy on this on the Help Page. Staff is courteous but firm on this issue.

As a matter of policy if a person of interest asks us to remove a thread that person will be referred to staff.

Our policy is that removing content is an internal decision that rests with staff not with the person of interest. In general we do not remove content unless it has been determined by staff that it is in the best interests of the forum to do so. We are an entertainment site based on gossip and drama and removing content arbitrarily because someone is triggered or offended would degrade the quality of the forum.
