Kiwi Farms is cheering on Elon Musk for saying he's going to arrest Redditors for saying he should be beaten/killed. Bog-standard Poster went against the grain and paid for it.
Bog-standard Poster is completely correct and the Kiwis are fucking stupid for dismissing their concerns.
Elon Musk is threatening legal action against those Redditors because those same Redditors are threatening to dox and harass the members of DOGE over political reasons (Redditors are mostly left-wing and it wouldn't be the first time the Far-Left doxed those on the Right over political reasons; see the doxing of StoneToss to see what I mean).
If you know anything about Elon Musk since he bought out Twitter, he tolerates a lot of things on Twitter under his business leadership. However, there is one thing Elon Musk does not tolerate and that is doxing (Elon Musk has put it on record that he does not consider doxing as free speech).
So Kiwi Farms (and other similar communities online) have a lot to fear for several reasons.
1. Elon Musk is in a position of power not just financially but politically as well. If you remember how Elon Musk reformed Twitter, yeah he allowed more edgy speech and content on Twitter but at the same time he hasn't exactly been a "free speech warrior". If anyone here can recall, not long after Elon Musk bought out Twitter, some skid would use publicly available air traffic where they managed to track down where Elon Musk was flying to. Elon Musk didn't took too kindly to this so he expanded on Twitter's anti-doxing rules and made it a bannable offense to dox people on Twitter. So you can imagine that Elon Musk may probably very soon push for laws and regulations that safeguard people's privacy online as well as criminalizing doxing on a federal level.
2. Donald Trump isn't exactly a free speech absolutist either. Is Donald Trump better than his Democratic counterparts? In a lot of ways, yes. But the Orange Man has plenty of things that call for objective criticism.
One thing about Trump is his personal objections to flag burning and thinks it should be illegal because he's a boomer that thinks no one should burn the American flag; the problem with his line of reasoning is that flags represent ideologies in general so flag burning is objectively free speech because burning a flag means someone disagrees with that ideology (if I were to burn an LGBT pride flag or burn a Black Lives Matter flag then that just simply means I oppose what those flags represent and so I'm within my right to express my opposition to those ideologies; this also includes people burning the American flag as often people do so to show their dissatisfaction with the American government).
Another criticism about Donald Trump is his opposition to anyone that criticizes Israel. Donald Trump recently signed an EO that calls for the deportaiton of illegal immigrants that protested Israel and supported the Palestinians. You can make the argument that they're illegal immigrants and they have no reason to be in the United States so their deportation is justified. But you can make the argument that signing an EO to deport undocumented immigrant protestors is redundant because Trump is going to deport them anyway under other EOs that call for the deportation of illegal immigrants and this just seems Trump is showing his contempt for pro-Palestine supporters in general (if Trump had the power, he'd probably deport American citizens that support Palestine as well). Trump has also recently called for Removing Kebabs in the Gaza strip and turn Gaza into a beach resort and if you criticize Trump over this then you must be "antisemetic". Trump has no regard for any ethics when it comes to Israel and he's willing to let Israel get away with a lot of things.
So considering these two factors; going back to the topic of doxers, if Elon Musk were to tell Trump what a doxer is then Trump will just come to the classic boomer conclusion that doxers are nothing more but modern day criminal stalkers that took their activities online and most likely Trump will call for leglization in regards to online privacy and online criminal harassment. So any online troll communties that heavily engage in doxing are in for a very rude awakening and they will see exactly for who Trump is (it doesn't help that a lot of troll communities are antisemitic so this gives the Orange Man new and inventive ways to target antisemites both online and IRL because Trump strongly supports Israel anyway).
3. Both the Blue states and Red states over the years have made doxing a crime within their own jurisdictions. Blue states (like California and Connecticut) and Red states (like Alabama and Missouri) have since made doxing a crime where it's either as a misdemeanor or a felony (with California and Illinois offering the right to action for their residents where they can sue a person or an online platform in civil court over doxing). This shows me that both the Democrats and Republicans in the United States don't see doxing as free speech and sooner or later it's probably going to made a crime on a federal level.
The Kiwis (and other troll groups on the Internet) should be very fearful because it doesn't really take much for Elon Musk to convince both the House and Senate to come up with new federal legalization that addresses online privacy and targets doxing. It's probably going to happen soon and then the Kiwis and other troll communities will throw a fit but they can't say that nobody warned them.
