Well, would you look over here?
I just knew that Welper would chimp out the moment I saw Strawb throw shade at the Mormons.
And the thing is, Strawb isn't being an asshole and she's not wrong about the Mormons either; Strawb is just saying what 99% of Christians think of the Mormons already (which is that most Christians see the Mormons as heretics that will never be welcomed in the Christian Community).
Mormonism is to Christianity what the Nation of Islam is to Islam what Karaite Judaism is to Judaism where Mormonism, the Nation of Islam, and Karaite Judaism are considered heretical within the three main Abrahamic faiths once you understand how the Abrahamic faiths are suppose to work in the first place.
Why do Christians don't recognize the Mormons as a legitimate branch of Christianity? Simple, the Mormons don't believe in the Trinity which is a strict prerequisite for a Christian church to have some legitimacy. Most Christians can still excuse if a church doesn't adopt the Nicene Creed but the belief in the Trinity is nonnegotiable, you have to believe in the Trinity in order to be considered a Christian.
Even if a Christian denomination doesn't adopt the Nicene Creed then in order for them to be seen as a legitimate Christian denomination then they must absolutely adopt the Trinity.
Why does the Christian Community respect the Amish more than they respect the Mormons? Because while the Amish don't adopt the Nicene Creed, the Amish still believe in the Trinity ans is for this reason is why most of the Christian Community prefers to work with the Amish than they do working with the Mormons. Because the Amish still understands basic Christian doctrine which includes the Trinity while the Mormons believe that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are three separate beings which is considered heresy in the eyes of the Christian Community; in the eyes of most Christians they see Mormonism as borderline Gnosticism for this reason alone.
Strawb isn't doing this to push any buttons, she (and I'm sure Rev too) is just saying what 99% of Christians think in regards to the Mormons already. Go look at Youtube, Twitter, and TikTok where often the biggest critics against the Mormon church often comes from other Christians and many Christians are often brutal whenever they criticize the Mormon church's heretical belief system.
Mormonism is essentially the Lesbian Space Princess of Christian denominations (if you can even call Mormonism as being Christian) because much like how Lesbian Space Princess managed to accomplish uniting every fandom on the Internet regardless of their politics (be it Invincible, The Transformers, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Warhammer 40K, My Little Pony, and every other fandom on the Internet) came together to look at Lesbian Space Princess just to collectively say "Fuck this piece of shit movie"; for Christians literately every denomination that believes in the Trinity (Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Methodists, Calvinists, Baptists, Pentecostals, the Amish and Mennonites, Evangelicals, and other Christian denominations that believe in the Trinity) come together to look at the Mormons and collectively say 'You're not a real church, you are a heretical cult and a fake church". Mormonism is often nicknamed as 'White Islam' for a very good reason.
At least Rev and Strawb are attending a real church and they're at least getting the full Christian experience by being taught real Christian scripture as instructed by the belief in the Trinity.
For the Tl;dr version of this, Welper is just mad that his cult that he's a member of (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) will never be invited into the cool Christian tree house down the street where the Christian denominations that do believe in the Trinity do get to be a member of this tree house and the tree house has a strict 'No Mormons Allowed' rule (because the only thing you say to heretical infidels is 'Deus Vult' whenever they try to get into your religious inner circle).
