Joshua claims he contacted the FBI and the Greene County Sheriff's office but yet they did nothing. There is one glaring fault in this. CWC may have lived in Greene County VA. but one of the people involved (Stephen Boyd) lives in Shepherdsville, KY. The Greene County Sheriff didn't have any jurisdiction over this because the offender doesn't live in Greene County. Joshua Moon is an intelligent person. Why didn't he get in contact with a detective from the Shepherdsville, KY police dept? Why didn't he get in contact with the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office or the Bullitt County DA's office?
Now a little bit of legal theory concerning this: In general there are two ways CWC could have recovered the $6000 lost. The first is to go through the Criminal Justice system. The other is through the Civil Court with a Civil Tort (i.e. file a civil lawsuit against the Tortfeasor - the person who wronged or injured you). Now the question is what's the difference? In a Criminal Court you can lose your liberty if you are found guilty and be sent to prison. In a Civil court you can only collect monetary damages. In a criminal court in order to find the person guilty, you have to meet a very high standard of proof (you have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt as shown by the evidence that the person is guilty - basically this is about 95% certainty). This is why it can be very tough to get a criminal conviction.
In a civil court to win a judgement against the person that wronged or injured you only have to prove with a preponderance of the evidence that the tortfeasor was at fault (the standard of proof is much more lenient - over 50% certainty). Basically if Joshua was truly looking to get justice for CWC he could have suggested to her to find a qualified attorney who was both licensed by the Virginia and Kentucky bar. In fact I suggested that to Josh when he had control over CWC's Twitter account and not surprisingly this was his answer.
