Haibane Renmei (created by the same author of Lain), a good example of "girls" anime that doesn't make audiences felt nerdy.
But yeah 98% of anime/manga today sucks, either never ending shounen garbage or shitty web novel adaptation made for losers, that's why I haven't actually cared about the anime scene for years.
haibane renmei was really good tbh it's really jarring when i find people who aren't in their 40s who enjoy renmei because for some reason most of it's followers are either lain kins or older folk
