Obscure Media that anywhere else but this thread would be weird to talk about.

I'm down the rabbit hole when it comes to the kinds of media I consume and I'm always looking for the next weird thing that's never really being talked about, especially when it comes to darker forms of media. There's something about games, movies, and other pieces of media that are abstract or weird and gross that draw me to them and wonder about the mental state of their creator's. There's the tips of the icebergs when it comes to darker forms of anime, manga, movies, games and so forth that a large community knows about, but I wanted to make a place for the "what the fuck?" pieces that most people would probably turn away from or be caught in morbid curiosity.

There's something about uncomfortable and weird pieces of media that are an obvious draw in for those who fall into morbid curiosities if you're like me.
These are just the tip of the iceberg, but when you see forms of media like this there's a very weird feeling since there's always a gritty feeling to pieces of media like this that get lost through the sea of the web and the algorithms which would rather show us more family - friendly related content when possible.


Mai Chan's daily life was a manga, but also made into a Japanese sick flick. I would not recommend reading the manga.

I wanted to make this thread if anyone else ever had any interesting, weird and morbid related content that they've seen or consumed and wanted to talk about.

In a forest, a group of white mice commission a doll from the Creatures Who Dwell Under The Oak. But the Creatures grow attached to the completed product and refuse to sell it to the mice. Finding an egg nearby, the Creatures sew it into the doll's belly. After the angry mice return and steal her back, the Creatures set out to rescue their beloved object, encountering a number of obstacles on their way -- from labyrinths to poisonous fruit and a sinister spider-woman.

Angel's Egg is a Japanese art film original video animation written and directed by Mamoru Oshii. Released by Tokuma Shoten on 15 December 1985, the film was a collaboration between artist Yoshitaka Amano and Oshii.


I just pre-ordered the new Lacey's flash games figurine that just released. I really like horror like Lacey's flash games, not too sure if it's concerning that I relate to the series.

It's a good one, I really like these genre's of movies because they're just really beautifully made with an interesting story to tell. There's so many on the list that I could name off, like Paprika, Perfect Blue, Belladonna Of Sadness, The Last Unicorn, Angel's Egg, and so many more that are just lost to time to a niche audience.

Belladonna of Sadness is a beautiful piece, another major one I would recommend above all others.

This game was my childhood, I remember getting it when I was around fix or six years old - and it's music and atmosphere sometimes felt unsettling, but in a weird comforting way where I wasn't too afraid of it as a kid, and it still gives off those feelings even as an adult. I like the idea of pet games, and this one had a really weird element to it where the creatures could actually die - and you could progress in finding new worlds if you guided the creatures well.
