Fresh Controversy as Activist Reportedly Goes Missing

Popular social commentator and activist Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has raised concerns over the reported disappearance of activist Livinus Nwosu, who was allegedly taken away by unidentified armed men in Bayelsa State.

According to reports circulating online, Nwosu was participating in a voter sensitisation campaign aimed at encouraging citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and become more involved in the democratic process when the incident reportedly occurred.

Witness accounts shared on social media claim that masked men dressed in black allegedly intercepted and took him away in public view, although authorities have yet to officially confirm the circumstances surrounding the incident.

VDM Reacts to Reports of the Alleged Arrest

Reacting through a video posted on his social media platforms, VDM claimed that Nwosu's reported detention was connected to his ongoing voter awareness activities.

According to VDM, the activist had been moving across communities, educating residents about voter registration, civic participation, and the importance of refusing to sell their votes during elections.

VDM alleged that the incident could be an attempt to discourage political awareness among young Nigerians and disrupt ongoing voter mobilisation efforts ahead of future elections.

“Livinus Nwosu has been picked up by gunmen, putting on black. His wife just reached out to me this evening,” VDM stated.

Calls for Investigation and Legal Intervention

The activist revealed that Nwosu's wife had contacted him and members of the **Ratel Movement** after being unable to determine her husband's whereabouts.

VDM further disclosed plans to engage lawyers and seek clarification from security agencies in Bayelsa State regarding the activist's status.

“God so kind it happened in public. They’ll go and meet the Bayelsa State Police, and we’ll send a lawyer there,” he said.

He insisted that efforts to encourage voter registration and political participation would continue regardless of intimidation or pressure.

Political Criticism Follows the Allegations

As part of his reaction, VDM also used the opportunity to criticize the administration of President **Bola Ahmed Tinubu**, arguing that the government has failed to adequately address several pressing national issues, including insecurity and public trust in institutions.

He further claimed that voter education campaigns are becoming increasingly important because citizens are beginning to show greater interest in participating in elections and holding leaders accountable.

“Whether you people like it or not, we will create this awareness. Gone are the days when you’ll just go give people ₦5,000 and a bag of rice for them to vote for you,” VDM declared.

He concluded by urging Nigerians not to abandon voter registration efforts despite the reported incident.

No Official Confirmation Yet

At the time of writing, there has been no official statement from security agencies or government authorities confirming Nwosu’s alleged detention or explaining the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

As a result, the claims remain allegations pending independent verification.

The situation has nevertheless sparked widespread debate online, with many Nigerians calling for transparency, accountability, and clarification regarding the activist's whereabouts.
