If I'm not mistaken don't the Shemmy and Chinny use the same software? Then again, the Shemmy has far less scripts needed to load than the Chinny.

The Shemmy uses vichan, the Chinny uses gigglegrid which is a customized fork of vichan.

I don't believe the Shemmy was ever on JSchan. The Chinny 1 was on Lynxchan, but Kikemin switched to gigglegrid due to engine problems on The Chinny 2. An in-house imageboard engine is being built right now, called Gigglegrid Next, but that's still got some time in the oven.
