1) Insulin spikes can but not often happen from artificial sweeteners. Our body can be retarded sometimes.

People who allegedly got fatally ill from such sweeteners already were at risk because of existing conditions like histories of obesity, cardiac infarction, colon damages, etc
3) industries are not responsible for your inferior gene make ups, which applies the same to medicines.
That said, diet sodas hardly help with weight managements because fat fucks will "compensate" the lack of calories by eating something else. I personally opt for sugar free options when I can because I like to drink something fizzy after running an hour or so without thinking about sugar intakes. But that's about it.
