I think this has to do a lot with the recent massive clusterfuck of a shitshow that is the IDScan breach.

Recently a group of hackers (presumably from Russia) breached a database from a Louisiana-based ID verification service called IDScan which is a service that provides ID verification for restricted goods and services like car rentals, checking into hotels and casinos, alcohol purchases, cannabis and tobacco purchases, retail pickups, and even some banks.

This isn't some stupid script kiddies trolling random people for a laugh, these are hackers that pulled off what is arguably the dox of the century where half of the Canadian population has now been doxed and half of the American population has now been doxed too.

Over 150 million government issued IDs and driver's licenses have been stolen and were put up for sale on the darknet until the darknet service selling this stolen information pulled the plug (probably due to things getting too hot as this has made international news with the FBI now investigating this matter and I'm sure they're working with their international law enforcement partners to find the perpetrators).

What makes this story big is that Pete Hegseth (the current Secretary of Defense) has also been doxed because of this breach (his ID was listed on the darknet for sale too). This truly is the dox of the century.

We haven't seen a dox like this since Equifax where they were negligent with their cybersecurity and suddenly their customers got doxed and exposed to criminals.

In a morbid way, I hope more shit like this happens. I don't condone criminal activity but I just want to see the stupid tech-illiterate boomers in power that still think IDs to access the Internet is a "good idea" get humiliated in incidents like these because of their short-sighted stupidity. I want to see these stupid boomers in power with their smug arrogant faces get humiliated time and time again when their stupid laws that they wrote put people in grave danger and fuck with people's lives because these tech-illiterate boomers don't want to understand the fact that there is no such thing as unhackable.

This should serve as a hard lesson for the idiots in power that criminals do not care about their well-intended "Think of the Children" policies and they will abuse said well-intended policies for financial gain and ruin people's lives.

Privacy is not just a shield against retarded governments that think they know more than you, privacy is also a shield against the psychos and scumbags of the world that want to hurt you too.

Eventually one of these online age verification services will get ratted. You will end up having not just your ID or face scan leaked, but also a list of every site you verified for.

Imagine your employers being able to scan your face or your ID and use an advanced AI-driven data breach search engine to search leaked verification records to see if records of you visiting nhentai, e-hentai, fakku, rule34 or even gelbooru pop up.

Hence why I think the inevitable will happen when this push to have IDs for everything on the Internet will come to a screeching halt because reality will come knocking on the front door of the delusional idiots that still support ID for the Internet.

Let's look at why ID for the Internet is a fucking terrible idea.

The first obvious thing here is the fact that centralized databases of sensitive information is often the target of threat actors that want this (as we've seem them trying to sell the stolen IDs for 100 dollars a pop). There is a financial incentive as to why criminals want to hack into these databases.

The second and more obvious reason on why ID for the Internet laws are terrible, they pose a massive national security threat. Pariah states in general (like Iran, North Korea, Russia, China, and Belarus) love these kinds of centralized databases in the West because they have plenty of incentive to do so; to bypass Western sanctions by stealing IDs to get access to Western assets, to demoralize the West to show that they can touch citizens of the Western world, and to humiliate the West by showing Western power is an 'illusion' with hacks like these.

The fact that Pete Hegseth has been affected by this shows me that this is no longer just a privacy and free speech issue anymore, this has now become a serious national security issue.

Darknet criminals and pariah nations love useful idiots that are in power in the West that champion ID laws for the Internet because they know it makes their jobs easier to have this sensitive information be right there for the taking, warped up like a birthday present.

If you've ever watched videos by the LockPickingLawyer, a common theme in his videos is whenever he obtains some electronic lock or some other lock that has some fancy gimmick to make them more "secure", he always manages to easily unlock them with ease (especially if you use the hammer method to unlock those overpriced locks) because the more parts something have, then the more there will be a single point of failure being present. Hence why the best security often follows the KISS Principle where often the best security is usually the simplest (the KISS Principle stands for Keep It Simple Stupid which is an OPSEC term first coined by the U.S. Navy back in the 1960's on how you should see security which is obliviously relevant now).

If privacy concerns and free speech concerns won't make the arrogant politicians drop the ID for the Internet grift because of 'muh-Think of the Children' then maybe national security will make these stupid boomers finally snap back to reality. Because criminals and pariah states only see Western culture war warriors with short-sighted policies for the Internet as complete dumbases that only makes the job of threat actors far easier to hurt Americans and Westerners in the long run.

Since Josh decided to hide the 'Members Online' widget (from guests), I decided to monitor it for a bit. I sampled 7 random times over the past week or so. He appears to have a large number of guests browsing the forum. I believe these to be the bot crawlers he is using on his site. At first I thought these numbers could possibly be legitimate because during that week, the GTA6 leaks were happening. GTA6 is basically the largest entertainment franchise in the world at this point. It's probably the most hyped video game ever by now. It will probably sell 200-250 million copies over the next decade and be one of the highest grossing video games ever. That amount of buzz and hype could generate thousands or tens of thousands of people to your website, in order to see the leaks. Especially because the leaker was drip-feeding the leaks every day and the videos were getting DMCA removed from X and other places. So Kiwi Farms actually served a little purpose here in uploading the leaked videos, which had no chance of being removed on KF. I myself, used the GTA thread to view the leaks because half the time, you'd find them too late on X and they had already been shut down. The only problem was trying to parse through thousands of posts on the thread. But you could get around this by selecting the next highlighted post, which would usually be the leaked videos themselves. Anyway, at one point he had 26,400 people as guests on the site. Lmao. Josh wishes he had that many real guests and not just fake bots. I would imagine a year from now, we will be so used to there being 100K fake bots on KF, that we can't remember a time when there were only 2K-4K people at any time.

These hacks are usually coming from inside of the building. They 'hack' themselves, claim on the insurance and then sell the data through nefarious channels, the funds of which find themselves back into the pockets of the owners of the company.
Almost every data hack is the same as this.

Sound too crazy to be true? It isn't and it isn't new. The Somalian pirates era of ships being hijacked was a coordinated effort by large cargo ship operators (Maersk et al) and goods transporters. A ship would be worth £100 million, for example, and be insured for £500 million. When it came to the end of its life, repairs would be running beyond £50 million for a full repair+downtime. So the companies paid some poor somalis to 'hijack' the ships, knowing full well that Maersk et al would be paid insurance for the boat that they don't want anyway.

It will probably sell 200-250 million copies over the next decade and be one of the highest grossing video games ever.
It won't. There's too many reasons why this game will fail financially by R*s own standards and measurements and how they've backed themselves into a wall.
With only 100 million consoles, at best, in customers' hands, a launch weekend of 30-40 million copies would break all records, which is pausible, but which customers willing to and wanting to play GTA6 will wait a month or two or until Christmas to buy it? Very, very few. 95% of all sales will happen within the first month (due to various timings of payday's) of which, 80% will happen on the opening weekend.
The game is never launching on PC, according to T2 - which we all know to be bullshit.
With a $2 billion cost of development, and further lost revenue due to bringing GTA5:Online players over to GTA6 - who contribute nothing beyond the first purchase because there's no online mode, selling 200-250 million copies is wishful thinking.

I know GTA5 sold a shit load but it was a different time, a different game and a differently shaped industry and therefore sold 100+ million units in its life time.
That's before we get to the sticking point that R* fired or replaced everyone who made GTA5 what it is, that 5 was detached from 3 and 4 in terms of humour and world-building, leaning more into the edgy-black/wannabe-wigga normie jokes.

On top of all of that, the game looks bland and they haven't released details of if there are restrictions to zones when it comes to mayhem. I hope, though cannot see, T2 allowing people to mow down African Americans and Cubans on Miami beach in the stunning graphics of GTA6.
Any controversy will compound the current issue surrounding the no discs/no physical approach of launching this game, which financially is fucking retarded because T2 has to pay Microsoft and Sony a digital cut - typically 30%, for using their services.
Said services are usually shite when under load and 30 million people downloading and logging on to the digital service day one won't go down well.

In all, a game releasing on a lower console count than the predecessor, with the highest cost of development ever, releasing only on digital services known to fold under pressure, made by a company a shadow of its' former self, releasing in a climate of heightened racial tension, with the culture wars coming to an end - which makes the grifters more desperate, launching when Youtube rage bait and million waiting to hate the game for clicks, with the possibility that the game is bland, lacking humour and overly sensitive.

I don't see how this game can succeed. Either it crashes the industry, or we witness the enshitification of the future of the industry worse than anything we've seen because the cattle will eat any slop fed to them.

Why does she have to do that? Is someone sending pizzas?
Or tried getting more meds than prescribed? Or... that's usual. If I'm delivering to a house, I don't know if it's HMO, and I'm not going to hand over meds to just anyone. It seems a little niave of AnLitId to not expect to show ID.

Lol the sleazefuck lawyer Joshua and Hardin secured for the idiots in the LFJ case was (allegedly) barred from representing Alex Jones because he was deemed too unethical by a judge, got a fat wallet working for multiple scummy porn studios and rapists (allegedly) like Cernovich. Another of his client "friends" raped a little kid under the age of ten. ("Allegedly")."

It's 4.30am in TN.... Time for Ash to spaz out at the kwiffar... She juz weljel that joshy knows someone, who knows someone, who raped a kid. She wants to know the kiddie rapists... all of them... not just the ones related to people she lies about being married to.

I'd like for this all to force busineesses and governments to go back to doing things the old fashioned way. the reliance of everything on apps hasn't seemed to make much easier

the total guest seems low, his members number used to be over 2k, now its about 1500. And we already know half of that 1500 is welper types who do nothing but give retarded takes in A&N.
I don't see how this game can succeed. Either it crashes the industry, or we witness the enshitification of the future of the industry worse than anything we've seen because the cattle will eat any slop fed to them.
it has a dev cost of 2 billion and already sold 25 million in preorders. like it already broke even, and thats not counting stuff like netflix paying millions for a 30 minute preview trailer and having exclusivity for a few hours.

its already profitable.
hope there are more hacks like this.

its a semi-stale take but tech wise we peaked in 2012. windows 7 wasn't obnoxious about updates like 8/10/11. ridesharing existed but didn't completely take over cabs and the requirements were a lot higher, same thing with food delivery. you didn't have 2fa everywhere and the internet and western society in general was a lot higher trust. it was before the culture wars really exploded, especially for the mainstream.

smartphones were still just getting into the whole "use case" era, instead of seeming like an extension of people's souls. 4g was just fast enough to be useful to people but not in the "big brother is always watching you" kind of way 5g is clearly being used

She fakes having autism, do you really think she isn't batshit insane? Certain medications require an ID because they are controlled substances(like opioids and other narcotics). Her powerleveling just revealed at least one of her meds are controlled. Having to show ID for a narcotic is actually a good thing because people will steal those to sell or abuse

25 million in pre-orders, minus the 30% cut isn't breaking even. Add in the marketing costs, server costs and loss of revenue from GTA5, they're not breaking even until they hit 40 million sold, not pre-orders.
Then the game has to be enjoyable, with legs and GTA6:Online must attract more audience and spend than GTA5:O or it's lost revenue.

The media can hype it all they want. People can be blown away by trailers all they want. That doesn't mean it's an instant success and can do no wrong, especially considering recent games that the media hyped that flopped, and the bad will created by both Witcher 3's downgrade and Cyberpunks, the latter pretty much killing the company.
