So I'll just say this.
They're not wrong that Japan has now overtaken Hollywood as the entertainment center of the world. Western Animation has not been doing so well so it should come to the surprise of no one that Japan has now become the new king of animation on the world stage. It's not that anime is doing better, it's because the West dropped the ball when it comes to animation which is why Japan is taking the world by storm through their animated content.
But then they say how they should force the Japanese animation industry to make wholesome content only and no longer make stuff with perverted tropes anymore. There is a lot of problems with this logic (then again this is Kiwi Farms where they still can't see the big picture).
Here's the thing, the reason why the anime community is gatekeeping so hard now (this includes defending the perverted tropes found in anime and manga including the lolicon and shotacon content) is because the anime community doesn't want anime and manga to end up just like Western Animation and American Comics.
The objective reason as to why the anime community is defending even the most controversial stuff found in Japanese entertainment is because they've seen what happened to Star Wars, Cartoon Network, and what happened to DC and Marvel because once you let retarded partisan ideologues barge into an industry and act like they own the place then the hobby is ruined.
Now there's nothing wrong with wanting more wholesome Japanese entertainment but once you want to force this onto people then it becomes a problem and you're going to get the exact same problems that you currently see with Western animation and Western comics these days. It's better to let authors choose how they want to tell their stories rather than forcing them to make what you want to see at gun point.
If you want an good example of why gatekeeping a hobby works so that it doesn't become ruined, take the Warhammer 40k fandom as an example. Recently the people behind Warhammer 40k were thinking about introducing female Space Marines into the 40k lore to which the Warhammer 40k community harshly objected because not only would this ruin already established 40k lore but the people that were pushing for this were blue-haired Tumblrites that were clearly attempting to subvert Warhammer 40K from the inside. Fortunately the developers behind Warhammer 40k confirmed that Space Marines will always be male and thus the Far-Left failed in their attempt to make Warhammer 40k become woke.
This is the reason why the anime community has been becoming more militant with their gatekeeping and why the anime community is more than willing to defend lolicon and shotacon because the genres of lolicon and shotacon serve as the canaries in the coal mine whenever some retard attempts to subvert their hobby.
Besides, there really isn't a lack of wholesome anime and manga to begin with because plenty of wholesome Japanese content already exists. If you want to find more wholesome anime and manga then go watch and read Seinen content instead and stop complaining (because you're not really going to find wholesome content in Shonens or Slice of Life content). Anime and Manga have plenty of genres so if you really want something that's more serious and wholesome then Seinen content is for you and you can very easily ignore the other genres.
The anime community isn't gatekeeping anime because they're alleged "Closet Pedophiles", the anime community is gatekeeping retards from their hobby because they've seen what happened to other cultural IPs (like Star Wars) and they don't want their hobby to suffer the same fate. It's why you see people like Hero Hei or Chibi Reviews or Rev says desu defend even the most controversial Japanese authors because they know the alternative is far worse (the retarded Westerners that think the universe revolves around them).
Think of it this way. Since I've mentioned Warhammer 40K here, why does the Imperium of Man have staunch xenophobic policies to begin with? Because nearly every other non-human race in the 40k universe is out to destroy humanity and not to mention the chaos gods that also wish to destroy humanity. So with the help of the God Emperor sitting on the Golden Throne and with the help of the autocratic polices of the Imperium of Man, humanity only survives by keeping out the hostile races from their territory. The Imperium of Man does this not because they want to but because they have to.
It's the same with the anime community these days. They gatekeep retarded Westerners from their anime hobby for the same reasons why the Imperium of Man genocides non-human races, it's to keep out the hostile forces that seek to destroy them. For the Imperium of Man, the Orks are not their friends, the Necrons are not their friends, and the Tyranids are not their friends and for a very good reason. For the anime fandom, retarded Westerners that seek to subvert anime and manga are not their friends either and for a very good reason too.
The anime community now gatekeeps because much like how a hoard of Orks can easily decimate a human planet in Warhammer 40k, retarded Westerners that have already ruined Star Wars and Western Animation for everyone else also seek to destroy Japanese entertainment and make it lame and it's for this reason is why the anime community has grown to be less tolerant of Western influence now (because nobody really wants a Japanese version of Steven Universe). If a Japanese author wants to make wholesome content then that is within their right to do so, if a Japanese author wants to make lewd content then that is within their right to do so, if a Japanese author wants to do both then that is withing their right to do so too but the important thing is that a Japanese content creator gets to choose instead of being forced to.
Anime and Manga are great because they don't really follow Western sensibilities in the first place. The Emperor protects.
