That sounds like most Kiwi Farms threads. Null recently featured a 6 page thread about a white trash livestreamer (who admittedly was almost 40 years old) being shot dead after an argument. The thread is one of the better ones and is full of archived stream clips and a very detailed OP. Then you look at the thread and most posts have 1-2 reacts and one person is maintaining the entire thread. Nobody was reading and only one person seemed to care, until he got killed and Null put it on the front page.
Even that thread has fallen off as it's mostly the same 5 people saying things like "Yeah, he was right about Iran going to war, but he was really gay about it".
No, it's worse now. There was always arguments and cliques fighting each other, but it never got like how it is now. The triple punch of #DropKiwiFarms, Lidl Drip and a growing disillusionment across the internet towards things like free speech or other right leaning viewpoints has caused KF to go through braindrain with most doxers going onto Twitter or the Sharty and it's spinoff sites, not getting into the amount of oldfags leaving or getting banned because of Null's worsening mental state.

even the mods and TES has admitted it, i assume BP has different rules but the vast majority of the posts post-DropKiwiFarms are in A&N, and very seldom will there be a lolcow page that is in the top 10 most activity for the site that day, mind you all it takes is 3 pages to hit that now because of how concentrated the userbase is in their politics generals or happening threads.
it wasn't this bad before dropkiwifarms, not only was the site bigger, Null still had to pretend to be into anime because of Comicsgate and the KickVic saga going on so those users you mentioned who'd get chased off the site or banned, were still around and actively contributing. the porn thread is a great example of this, the first pages are tons of relevant info and shitposts from people who can admit to watching porn and then over the last 3 years it became like the rest of the site, where everyone acts as scared about sex as Null is. Kiwifarms went from the successor to Encyclopedia Dramatica to being the moralfag site where people are triggered by kids shows and get traumatized by 80s movies like Stand by me
even his "supporters" like on USPG2 admit null will throw temper tantrums.
