You did had your retarded religious pearl clusters that bitched about Dungeons and Dragons and Harry Potter back in the day; but being fair here the Religious Right never really went anywhere because they were seen as retards that wasted everyone's time over stupid shit (the Religious Right never went anywhere for the same reasons the Dissident Right never went anywhere).
But there were two individuals from the Left at the time that really cranked up the censorship rhetoric in the name of boomer shitlib ideology, Hillary Clinton and Al Gore.
Al Gore is a member of the Democratic Party that served in Congress back in the 1980's and 1990's where he started a moralfag crusade against music; especially rap music and metal music where those two genres of music had explicit lyrics not appropriate for children. He really wanted to legally ban said genres music under the misguided guise of 'muh-Think of the children' and in the end what we got from that was the Parental Advisory label that is used by the music labels now to let parents know that a single or an album contains inappropriate content for children.
There was also video games. Today Hillary Clinton (former First Lady that served in the Clinton administration in the 1990's) now supports video games because these days being against video games in general is a losing political position (you're going to look like a massive retard these days if you still make the boomer shitlib pseudoscientific claim that video games leads to real world violence). But back in the day, Hillary Clinton lead the charge to censor video games where she crusaded against video games like Night Trap (a cheesy thriller game with production values that are on par with a low budget horror movie) where she claimed that game promoted real world violence towards women (so the feminist boomer shitlib crap has been around long before Anita Sarkeesian became a household name) and she crusaded against video games like Mortal Kombat which was blamed on real world violence (Hillary Clinton's anti-video game rhetoric at the time would spawn retards like Jack Thompson that crusaded against video games well into the 2000's).
Most people remember the retarded shit the Religious Right said about pop culture media back in the day (and the Religious Right are still retards because they often still do the 'Feels over Reals' meme whenever they talk about any topic which is why most people don't take them seriously to this day) but what irks me is that the stupid shit from the Left at the time during the 1990's got memory holed because corrupt mainstream news media and dishonest content creators on the Internet still think the Democrats can do no wrong when objectively speaking the Democrats have done their share of really shitty things too.
The Religious Right are retards but the Progressive boomer shitlibs from back in the day also sucked ass too.
