People seem to forget it was boomer christian pearl clutching wine mom's that were angry over stupid shit like south Park saying the word shit a bunch of times or the satanic panic. They are the reason people spitefully swung radically in the other direction in the first place. It was a "fuck you mom and dad and fuck the system, I will do the opposite out of spite" moment. Then eventually they became the thing they hated by gatekeeping in the same way, but for the opposite of what they stand for. The left wing woke liberals and right wing trad conservatives both want to control speech for their side so they have a monopoly on it and don't actually care about free speech. They only cry about it when it's their side being censored but have no problem when it is their opposition.
It's for this reason is why I don't identify myself as either liberal or conservative and it's why I tend to be pretty libertarian on a lot of things.
I find both liberalism and conservatism to be objectively political failures and the funny thing is that both of these two schools of thought are paradoxical.
The problem with progressive liberalism is that it claims it's for individual freedom but it demands equality of outcome which requires heavy taxation, violation of religious liberty, dismantling the ability for a population to defend itself and intrusive government programs that violate property rights. When property rights are violated, government becomes more and more tyrannical (see the UK with their now infamous UK Online Safety Act which violates the property rights of the British, the Scottish, and the Northern Irish where the Britbong government is censoring their Internet "For the greater good").
The same issue is seen with conservatism. While conservatives don't violate property rights directly, they still violate said property rights anyway indirectly by controlling what people can or can't buy if they find it subjectivity immoral, trying to impose religious doctrine where it is not appropriate that it violates the property rights of people that follow a different religion, and imposing retarded economic policies that puts more money into useless endless wars and retarded world affairs rather than investing in their own countries. You see this with shitholes like Russia where they're an improvised shithole where their people are broke and their authoritarian government have to use things like religion to distract their citizens from the fact that they're broke and the powers that be prefer that they stay poor and have no doors for success while the authoritarian government invest heavily in their already costly military programs which violates property rights in the long run.
When will Americans finally realize that both liberals and conservatives are just controlled opposition for the elites? I don't know.
This to me is also further proof that democracy is pretty overrated if what democracy offers is politicians that have to lie and grift in order to stay in power while their voters get nothing in return. Democracy having corrupt and grifting politicians is not a bug but a feature of democracy; especially when you realize that giving any moron the ability to vote for any dumbass into public office only hurts a country more which is why voting should be seen as a privilege that has to be earned and not be seen as a right.
Driving is seen as a privilege because of the enormous responsibility that comes with driving a big hunk of metal in the streets and you are solely responsible for not killing anyone with your vehicle, so why do we give any dumbass the right to vote if they don't care about what damage they can cause to their own country depending on who they vote for?
