The switch 2 is basically unplayable unless you get the built in ransomware removed. This is probably the one time scalping might be a good thing, if it's the people modding the systems and not just people reselling the stock system.

The supposed update without which you can't play games? That was misinformation clickbait. It's an update required to use online functions, and it just so happens that it needs to check a compatibility list to play Switch 1 games. Switch 2 games work out of the box without any patches.
Ever since the reveal in April this might have been one of the most fudded consoles in history. Some people, who I suspect may not be in a good position financially, really want to see Nintendo fail. Too bad. They'll have to wait another whole eight years for the next chance.

thats japan for ya, they believe in the whole "break eggs to make omelets" thing to the extreme, which is why people have been shittalking their culture for a long time. the only reason people are caring more now is that Nintendo the past 20 years has had more misses than hits and its obvious that its keeping a lot of franchises from reaching their true potential. advances have been made to the point that any random group of quality coders can make games that surpass anything nintendo can do, just without the IP that gets your average consoomer to buy the goyslop.
palworld was made by a handful of amateurs and it outsold pokemon by a huge fucking margin, same thing with that one game made by former ubisoft employees that outsold the game they were laid off from 10x over.
Nintendo only has such a stranglehold because of a combo of legacy and nostalgia, meaning it can just shove a decade of crap down people's throats like with the WiiU and it won't hurt them.
