The tarriffs were launched ASAP so there would be about a year before it might really hurt the US economy, the World Cup in 26 will probably help unite the country long enough for the GOP not to get completely fucked in the midterms as long as they can finish the tarriff war by this time next year.

obviously deals haven't been signed yet, but they've given themselves plenty of runway. it reminds me of DOGE, they gave themselves a year and a half to get shit done, US Aid being in the news at the start was great for PR, but overall they've given themselves a lengthy runway to get all the shit they need to, accomplished. I doubt we'll see anything beyond mindless wheel spinning for the next 12 months while the deals get done behind the scenes. Same way the mineral deal vanished from the news.

Trump's policies aren't for what will happen this quarter or this year, as you said even Trump's all but admitted this year will suck for the average american, by a huge fucking margin. but this is the growing pains that will result in next year hopefully being good.

The fact Trump isn't even trying to bullshit people on how the economy is doing should tell you how certain even his people are that the tariffs will destroy the US at least in the short term.

So for Trump's sake and for the sake of America, Trump better hope those shelves don't become empty because starvation is usually a main motivator for revolution (I hope it doesn't get that bad but me reading history shows me what usually happens when a population of people in a nation begins to starve after being so used to abundance).

Trump and his party literately want to have cuts for Medicaid and other social programs like food stamps and go look this up right now if you still don't believe me (he has not hide this fact and both he and his party are open to the idea in gutting these social programs despite their immense popularity with Americans).

It's the same with banks where the banks have a right to refuse service to anyone. If you were to go to Japan, you may see a "No Foreigners Allowed" sign on the front window of some restaurants and retail stores because those businesses had a bad history dealing with tourists that don't know how to behave themselves (making the customers unconformable, engaging in religious solicitation with the other patrons when it was not wanted, engaging in business solicitation when it was not wanted, being loud and obnoxious, and other behaviors that forces said Japanese owners to kick out the gajins that fail to read the room).

I hate to use the "It's a private company, they can do what they want" argument but generally speaking no one is really entitled to be provided private services because being provided a private service is a privilege and not a right (much like how driving is a privilege and checking out library books is also a privilege).

The American Constitution guarantees free travel around the country for its citizens and legal residents (freedom of movement is guaranteed in the American Constitution) but it doesn't guarantee a right to a specific form of traveling (such as driving which is seen as a privilege) and you're still free to use other modes of transportation to get to one place to another if you can't drive (such as the bus, airplane, taxi, Uber, the train, streetcar, the subway, a horse, a bicycle, your friend offering you a ride, use your two legs and feet, you really don't need a car to get from point A to point B in America). It's also like how if you are accused of a crime, you have a right to an attorney (a court will provide one for you if you can't afford an attorney) but you don't have a right to a specific attorney; beggars can't be choosers.

If you run a business and some obnoxious fuck makes a scene that scares away your customers, you're going to kick the obnoxious fuck out from your business because they are bad for your business.
