His aversion to admit ever being a weeaboo is second only to the one about him ever being wrong. It ties neatly into his hypocrisy of giving others shit for things he himself has been guilty of in his edgy past.
Josh's hatred of anime is entirely performative. He knows that the stigma from the Blockland sperging and his time at 8chan (or which ever gay image board it was) will never go away. The stink of pedo is there so he thinks if he's even remotely associated with anime it'll just be more ammo against him.
It completely backfires in classic Josh fashion. The people who think he's a pedo hate him regardless of what he says about anime and his needlessly antagonistic attitude towards people based on their viewing habits turns people who might help him off.
