Few duos in Nigerian online entertainment have generated as much drama, laughter, and controversy as Twitch sensation Carter Efe and his longtime associate, Kolu Wahala. What started as a fun, chaotic on-screen partnership has evolved into one of the most closely watched relationships in Nigeria's digital content space, marked by public fallouts, tearful reconciliations, and repeated allegations of betrayal.

Carter Efe and Kolu rose to prominence together through livestreams filled with comic sketches, prank calls, and unscripted chaos that made them fan favorites. Kolu quickly became known for his exaggerated reactions and constant presence beside Efe during viral moments, including stream segments where he searched for love on camera, escaped unwanted kisses, and got flustered whenever a girlfriend showed up unannounced. Their chemistry helped cement Efe's channel as one of the most-watched in Africa, especially after Davido's appearance on the platform pushed Efe to the top of the continent's Twitch charts.

But behind the comedy, tension had been building over money and recognition, tension that would eventually spill into public view.

The first major crack in their relationship came after Davido pledged a sum of N20 million during one of Efe's livestreams, with an apparent understanding that Kolu would receive a share. When the funds didn't arrive as expected, Kolu accused Efe of blocking him and ignoring his calls. In an emotional video, an visibly frustrated Kolu appealed directly to Davido, alleging that Carter didn't want to give him his share of the money and had blocked him despite repeated calls. The clip spread rapidly, with fans taking sides over who was in the right. It wasn't the first time Efe had faced such accusations either; earlier disputes with musical collaborators, including Berri Tiga over the hit "Machala" and another artist named Young Duu, had already painted a pattern of colleagues feeling shortchanged after working with him.

Despite the public airing of grievances, Efe and Kolu eventually patched things up. Around December 2025, a video emerged showing the pair hanging out together in good spirits with mutual friends, signaling that the N20 million dispute had been resolved, even if the exact terms of their agreement were never made public.

Their bond was tested again just months later, this time in dramatic fashion. In March 2026, both men found themselves in police custody following a confrontation at singer Portable's bar in Ogun State. The unannounced visit reportedly triggered security concerns that led Portable to call in law enforcement, resulting in Efe, Kolu, and their team being briefly detained. The matter was eventually settled through the intervention of a record label executive, allowing all parties to walk free. Portable, however, didn't hold back afterward, directing pointed criticism at Kolu, his former signee, for leaving the label that had helped establish him in Lagos, and even took a swipe at Kolu's girlfriend's motives.

Around this same period, Kolu inserted himself into another one of Efe's storylines: the streamer's public breakup with his baby mama, Nuella. When news broke of the split, Kolu didn't stay quiet, declaring his own romantic interest in Nuella and boldly asking Efe to step aside. He argued that Efe had made a mistake ending things with someone so beautiful, insisting he had the financial means to provide for her instead. The comment drew widespread mockery and debate online, with many questioning whether Kolu was serious or simply playing up the moment for content.

By May 2026, though, the friendship appeared to reach a genuine breaking point. Kolu announced in a video that he and Efe had gone their separate ways, revealing plans to relocate to his father's house in Abuja. He described the split as something that had worn him down significantly, framing it as the end of their long-running association. The announcement stunned fans who had followed the pair's journey from humble livestreams to viral stardom.

The story didn't end there. Just weeks later, in June 2026, Kolu resurfaced with fresh complaints, this time accusing Efe of failing to support him financially despite their years of collaboration. He claimed he was no longer invited to shows and felt left out even as Efe continued to profit from their joint content, adding that requests for financial help had been turned down. Kolu went further, declaring he would step back from participating in Efe's livestreams altogether.

As it stands, the relationship between Carter Efe and Kolu remains unresolved, swinging between reconciliation and renewed grievance much like Efe's other high-profile entanglements. Whether the two find their way back to the on-screen chemistry that made them stars, or whether this latest rift marks a permanent end, remains to be seen. What's certain is that their story, filled with comedy, money disputes, police stations, and unexpected declarations of love, continues to be one Nigerian audiences can't look away from.
