Armenia wants to join the ICC Infuriating Russia

The separatist leader President Samvel Shakhramanyan has declared that breakaway Armenian enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh inside of Azerbaijan will cease to exist on January 1, 2024. All of its institutions will be dismantled. Armenia wants to join the International Criminal Court and go after Azerbaijan for war crimes and ethnic cleansing. Azerbaijan denies the charges. Russia is very upset over Armenia wanting to join the ICC and views it as a very hostile act. Armenia is a member of the Russia led CTSO (Collective Treaty Security Organization) in which members promised to protect each other if attacked. Armenia has accused Russia of not living up to its end of the bargain when Azerbaijani military forces attacked the Armenian enclave.

Armenia and Azerbaijan both have plenty of war crimes they're responsible for. Especially the ethnic cleansing. The UN should oversee a population swap, like the Turks and Greeks did after Greece won their independence. But that's not at all likely.
