VDM Shifts Focus to 2027 Elections

Popular social commentator and activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has once again entered Nigeria’s political conversation, urging citizens to take the 2027 general elections seriously and become more involved in the democratic process.

In a recent video circulating across social media platforms, VDM argued that one of Nigeria’s biggest problems is the lack of political accountability, insisting that elected officials often feel untouchable because many citizens fail to actively participate in elections.

According to him, the power to change the country's direction lies in the hands of voters, not politicians.

“Voting Leaders Out Sends a Strong Message”

Speaking passionately about the state of the nation, VDM claimed that Nigeria could experience significant improvement if voters prove they are willing to remove leaders who fail to meet expectations.

He argued that politicians would become more responsible and performance-driven if they understood that poor governance could cost them their positions at the next election.

“If we can vote President Tinubu out of power, Nigeria will improve by at least 70%. It would send a message that whoever we elect can be removed if they fail to perform,” VDM stated.

According to the activist, accountability at the ballot box is one of the strongest tools available to ordinary citizens, and politicians would think twice before neglecting the public if they feared losing office.

PVC Registration Becomes VDM’s New Campaign

Beyond criticizing the current administration, VDM also used the opportunity to encourage Nigerians, especially young people, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the next election cycle.

He noted that many of the people who regularly complain about governance on social media are not even registered voters, making their frustrations ineffective when election season arrives.

“Everybody should start preaching to everyone to get their voter card. The time is now. Eighty percent of people who talk on social media don’t even have a PVC,” he said.

VDM stressed that meaningful change requires participation beyond online debates, insisting that voter registration and turnout are essential if citizens genuinely want a different outcome in future elections.

Mixed Reactions Across Social Media

His comments quickly generated widespread reactions online. Supporters praised him for encouraging civic participation and voter awareness, arguing that increased voter turnout could strengthen democracy and force politicians to become more accountable.

Critics, however, questioned his claim that voting out the current administration would automatically solve Nigeria’s challenges, noting that the country's problems extend beyond any single government.

Regardless of where people stand politically, VDM’s message has once again pushed the conversation toward voter education, political participation, and the growing importance of the 2027 elections.
