The ongoing legal battle involving social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), cryptocurrency entrepreneur Blord (Linus Williams), and activist Omoyele Sowore has taken another dramatic turn.
What initially began as a legal dispute between VDM and Blord is now gradually evolving into a confrontation between VDM and Sowore, following Sowore’s public intervention in the case.
How The Matter Started
The controversy dates back to early April 2026 when Blord was arrested over allegations of criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and the unauthorised use of Verydarkman’s identity and image for promotional purposes.
According to VDM, Blord allegedly used his photographs on billboards and promotional materials linked to his gadget business launch in Onitsha without his consent. He also accused the businessman of circulating fake flight tickets and falsely claiming he was attending or endorsing the event.
Following the petition and legal proceedings, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered that Blord be remanded pending further investigation and hearing.
The case immediately gained national attention online, especially after videos surfaced showing VDM escorting Blord during parts of the legal process.
Sowore Steps In
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore later reacted publicly to Blord’s detention, criticising the remand order and describing it as an abuse of the legal process.
Sowore argued that imprisonment should not be celebrated and vowed to support efforts aimed at securing Blord’s release and possible discontinuation of the case.
His intervention quickly sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians debating whether Sowore was defending civil rights or interfering in an ongoing legal dispute.
Blord Granted Bail
On Friday, April 17, 2026, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia of the Federal High Court Abuja granted Blord bail.
However, despite the bail approval, the businessman reportedly remained in custody until April 20 because one of the bail conditions required the submission of his international passport, which was said to be in Enugu State at the time.
The development fueled even more conversations online, especially among supporters of both VDM and Blord.
Verydarkman Fires Back
In a fresh viral video circulating online, VDM made it clear that his attention had now shifted away from Blord and toward Sowore.
According to him, the issue was no longer solely about Blord’s alleged actions but about proving that influential figures could not interfere with a legal process because of status or activism.
“It’s not about him anymore. It’s about showing Sowore that he cannot do anything. It’s about Sowore now, and I will show him,” VDM said in the video.
The statement immediately triggered heated reactions online, with supporters and critics debating whether the activist was taking the matter too personally.
Rumours of Reconciliation
Amid the growing tension, rumours of reconciliation between VDM and Blord also surfaced online after a viral clip showed Blord extending a handshake toward VDM during a court appearance, which VDM eventually reciprocated.
While some social media users interpreted the gesture as a sign that both parties may eventually settle the matter privately, neither camp has officially confirmed any reconciliation talks.
Public Reactions Continue
The situation has continued to divide opinions online.
Some Nigerians believe VDM is justified in pursuing the matter legally, arguing that impersonation and unauthorised commercial use of a person’s image are serious allegations.
Others feel the case has escalated beyond what should have remained a civil dispute and have called for a peaceful settlement between all parties involved.
Meanwhile, Sowore has maintained his stance on the matter, repeatedly stressing that the law should never be weaponised against citizens regardless of personal disagreements.
With court proceedings still ongoing and tensions rising publicly, the VDM-Blord-Sowore saga remains one of the most talked-about online controversies in Nigeria at the moment.
