I mean the "off topic" section is pretty much a ghost town now, the only sections still active are either trannies, ashley or kiwifaggot ones
 
Word of mouth goes a long way. Tell people that the site is worth using lol. There's a stigma around onionfarms and a reputation that I think prevents a lot of people from even giving it a chance. Telling your buddies that the site is a lot better now and worth using will help. That's what I've been doing.

I think the most important thing about onionfarms is that it's fun; I don't ever want the site to turn into what KF has turned into, I don't want to manage a site full of tryharding faggots trying to out-edge one another. I don't want a bunch of unchecked alogs acting like dipshits. I want onionfarms to stay cozy AF, and I think if a few people can get over the stigma around the site they'll enjoy it. So if you enjoy the site and you know other people who enjoy this kind of shit invite them over; let people know why you're here and why they should be too. 🤷

This site faces quite a wide array of issues, hence why it's dead. Examples being:
  • being styled as a 'arms splinter is offputting to both normalfags and people in the cowsphere (and those which don't find it offputting are just gonna be kiwifags)
  • those who get past this initial point see that the site is owned by kengle. despite kengle doing an objectively good job at running the site, his reputation as a gigantic sperg is less than stellar and many people won't trust him with their IPs
  • those who hate the 'arms' inhabitants but like the format won't be pleased with the fact that the site is almost dead and fed by kiwifarms rejects fighting each other, and will just fuck off to EDF before they inevitably get bored of that as well
This alone leaves OF as a site mostly for people with no other choice, thoughfore a site that is most likely doomed to be dead. This can change, but the reputation of the site is pretty much solidified given the first source of information about it is on trannyfarms.

That's not an unfair point, however, there are plenty of splinters and similar sites that do alright. I dunno how much you know about Onionfarms, but there have been plenty of bad times and we've come to this state deservedly. I won't go into detail about the key issues but this is a something of a mess we made ourselves and I've been working on fixing it for the last few months.

Unlike KF, onion farms deletes IP and user data every 24 hours. Even lolcow.org supposedly held onto IP logs and user data for 7 days. This is a change I made to OF. I appreciate what you're saying but the reality is that the user's on this site are far safer than the users on KF which has had 3 major data breeches in the last 3 years.

I don't necessarily agree. A forum is a forum is a forum and there are plenty of splinters that do alright. Like I said, there's a reason OF is where it's at, and it's not because it's a KF splinter. The site used to be booming before The Nigcident. I know for a fact that many people want a comfy site that's more relaxed, easy going, and fun than KF. People want a place to shitpost, relax and enjoy their time on the internet. OF hasn't always been under the best stewardship, @naught administrated the site for almost 2 years and was practically the only person using the site for two years because he's a miserable faggot and no one wants to deal with him. Every change over the last 2-3 months has been made by me, and I think those changes have been positive as people have started wandering back in this direction.

So again, I think recommending the site, if you enjoy using it, to your buddies will go a long way towards improving the reputation of the site; unless you're ashamed to be here or something and don't want your friends to know about it.
 
@OnlyGemsDoe, Just scrolled through the boards. If you want a good example of why the site isn't booming right now; Naught soft deleted threads he didn't like usually made by people he didn't like; he'd restrict users out of spite and anger, like @Slidey Boi for posting things he didn't like. I attribute at least 75% of the population problem to Naught being a salty, stale, unfun nigger of an admin who larped as Josh too hard and made people leave.

Now that he's an "assistant admin" and my "subordinate" (his gay word not mine) I feel comfortable shit talking him publicly. He's the root cause of most of the site's issues and those issues will go away now that he's gone away and I'm just glad he didn't also drive @Three away, although he tried extremely hard to.

This is just an outsider opinion so feel free to discard:

I think the step of splitting the non-lolcow stuff into a different domain is a great step (next: disassociating it from the name 'onionfarms' altogether).

I think the site can still use a deep pruning of less active threads and subforums.

The forum can thrive if it finds its true niche, which IMO isn't as a Kiwi Farms splinter/refuge but as more of a lolcow petting zoo.

Again, IMO, while some parts of the Kiwi Farms playbook make sense some are rather arbitrary. The biggest area for improvement on the KF model is in consistent application of the moderation policies.

Evaluate your strengths and maybe don't appear as a direct competitor to anything KF is doing so that members can easily filter in and out between the sites without feeling like they'll run afoul of Josh or your moderation team/core userbase. I know it's not this site that has perpetuated that dynamic but finding a way to not put that burden on your users might be helpful.

given that I spent only about 5 minutes on cattle boiling and cubing site I don't know all of faggotry behind exodus of users. it certainly seemed more active here back when i first checked doe, even when compared to lolcow.org (rest in penis)
if its true that naught is niggerfaggot who drove away all users maybe try to reach out to them using e-mail? send one mail to inactive users and banned users saying "sorri pl0x come back"
but possibly retard idea. possibly only way to spread site is to shill it. i suppose we emphasise the security and relaxedness aspect
 
How to revive/grow this site:
  • Keep the site stable. (It's already better than KF in terms of stability, so just keep it up!)
  • Make a Tor .onion address.
  • Make an I2P address.
  • When you dump information, dump it here, and link back to here when talking about it elsewhere. Always link back to discussions on this site.
  • Get rid of email all together for registrations. (This removes a pointless barrier to entry, and reduces the chance of retards self-doxing when signing up)

I was about to say the same thing. I've been checking in here regularly, but haven't been as active. Its definitely encouraging to see the admins here actually taking action against Naught. It wasn't my place to suggest he be stripped of his mod role, but I was tempted to say in my exchange with Ken 'Is this what you tolerate from your mods?'
