It's astounding how it doesn't dawn on the users that Josh lost in a similar fashion in Australia and for the same reason, defamation. He wasted 6 figures of their donations handing it to his buddy Vinnie just for him to capitulate, accept he helped spread defamatory material on LFJ hosted on Kiwifarms, apologized to LFJ, and will pay LFJ a lump sum along with the attorney fees. Despite Josh's lingual kung-fu, the Australian courts still find Kiwifarms to be defamatory and the "court order" (which Josh previously admitted never existed to begin with) still stands.

I didn't follow this shit at all at the time but it seems like this is a pretty sane outcome considering that Jobst basically tried to allege publicly that Mitchell induced Apollo's suicide, then refused to recant at all in the face of evidence to the contrary including Apollo's fucking suicide note. Seems like most people in that thread have a similar take to me in between bouts of laughter as well. I mean, Australia is a bit of a shitty country (sometimes a very shitty country depending on what rights you value) but I don't see how this would have had a different outcome if the court was American. Jobst was clearly in the wrong here. Fucking hell, Mitchell didn't even seek full damages as far as someone posted.

Maybe it's just because I'm not overly invested in speedrunning that I don't get why people are so invested in this. Everyone knows Billy Mitchell cheated some DK scores or whatever, who cares? It's just video games, let him be a cheating nerd.
