"The Dukes of Hazzard star Ben Jones has died aged 84 after suffering a heart attack.
The US actor was best known for his role as Cooter Davenport in the hit action-comedy series, which ran from 1979 to 1985.
Jones’ death was announced by his wife Alma Viator, who shared that he died of a heart attack on Sunday.
In a touching tribute on Facebook, she wrote: “I lost the love of my life today. Ben passed from a massive heart attack.”
Alongside a photo of Jones cuddling their dog, she added: “He was home resting in his [favourite] chair waiting for the Braves to come on and whoop the Yankees.
“Ben had the most amazing rich full life. He loved and was loved by so many. He will be missed. I loved him so so much”
He also had a career as a Representative for Virginia.
