These threads cover general gossip and interacting with Kiwifarms (openly calling them out).

Depends on what aspects you're judging.

For me, I was never big on the Null/management stuff and basically I never encountered him. I usually hung around the media/entertainment/off-topic stuff, and people there used to be sane.

Just for example there was an understanding that "just because there was a girl in it, doesn't mean its woke." I recall pointing out that a lot of shows from the 1980s that we all grew up with, had women, but nobody said Cheetara made Thundercats woke, or that Gadget made Rescue Rangers furry bait.

Last time I was on Kiwifarms a few months ago, they had gone full tard on this same issue. I saw somone specifically claiming that Rescue Rangers (which is from 1989, remember) was specifically an attempt to normalize sexual attraction to animals.

Like, for fucks sake this is one of the last topics I made while on KF. Notice that despite me specifically citing examples like "anime will make you troon out," they very quickly pivot to talking about religious texts, political screeds, or intentional propaganda. At the top of page four I call out what they're doing and immediately get accused of "strawmanning."

Meanwhile, just a few years ago I made a very similar topic with basically the same theme. And look at how different the response was, with Kiwis being a lot more reasonable. It's kind of eye-opening to see the very different takes.

EDIT: Man, reading through those... its kinda funny that in the first one, the only person who made the "propaganda" argument.... was SSJ_Ness. But then in the more recent version that wound up being the go-to argument. That tells you all you need to know.

Yeah, I would love something that's like the media/off-topic forums. I never was into the Lolcow aspect at all, and only ever show up to the threads of the people I recognize.

Even the media sections have gotten extreme though.

As for the lolcow stuff, I recall even Null complaining about that in one of his old talks with Rekieta (remember that?) where he complained (using the DSP people as an example) that nobody is just laughing at him, they seriously hate him and want him dead. I've seen that myself--I'm one of the few people who has anything nice to say about Linkara and that often just breaks people's minds, no matter what it is I actually say.

I may be wrong on the nigger thing though. I think some academic scraped the Kiwi database at some point, so it might be possible to check. I really would be curious to find the frequency of terms like nigger on Kiwi Farms (though I bet 2020 is an outlier year because of the race riots). You could also plot other fun insights like the rise of feminists and the feminist Josh arc with all its keywords.

Though you are definitely right that KF took on a real activist tone around 2019 and definitely by 2022. I think Null was onto something in his rants around that time when he whined about the site getting too political, too big, and not fun. But I just cannot see any way a site would not fall into that trap. You would just end up joining a revolving carousel of sites that either decay into junk like KF did or simply die of irrelevance like Encyclopedia Dramatica.

The problem is starting your own forum requires you to have some sort of infrastructure and I'm literally a guy in a trailer posting using an Intel NUC attached to a budget HDTV.

I cannot believe that I have to go and defend a dead nigger baby series of websites that imploded via shit management (except for Dread Pirate Roberts, he was the best and most chill admin) but a parody is not a "knock off" or "alternative". They stylized themselves around Kiwi Farms to make fun of them and their culture.

Thar's what I am seeking here: To Gossip about our favorite drama figures and have fun. You may have noticed a change in the terminology. That's because "lolcow" has taken on a very bad reputation associated with stalking, harassment and so forth. Kiwifarms will always be associated bullying people to suicide and putting people's lives in danger. Is it unfair? In large part it probably is. But there's nothing anyone can do about it. This is why I am trying to go for a softer touch with Onionfarms.

Soyjak Wiki feels like zoomer Encyclopedia Dramatica. It feels like something quintessentially zoomer, where it is like a cargo cult rehash of a classic thing that sometimes actually approaches it. Sometimes. At least it is alive unlike ED.

i am a zoomer and im used to the zoomer one i guess
ED is needlessly hard to use and a thing of the past
half of the time the images dont load, when they do you cant enlarge them, if you can actually make out the images its eye rape, you cant edit you have to ask the jannies first, every template is simple and shitty,
etc. etc.
 
Reddit. Whatever you think of it, Reddit doesn't ban lolcow content or subreddits. They stalk and track and obsess over tons of non-notable online weirdos. After KF went full Trump and after SJWs declared war on KF, the SJW-adjacent KF members just used Reddit.
