    The problem I see is that the argument seems to redefine what resurrection means. In Christianity, resurrection follows genuine death. If Jesus only became unconscious or temporarily stopped functioning, then calling what happened a resurrection becomes problematic.

    For me, the biggest takeaway is that theological development and institutional development were happening at the same time. It’s difficult to separate the two completely.

    The biggest takeaway for me is that “Christianity” wasn’t necessarily a clearly separated religion from Judaism from day one. There seems to have been a long and complicated transition, with different groups understanding Jesus in different ways.

    Good post. I’d be interested in seeing a comparison between the Ebionites, Nazarenes, and Essenes. There seem to be similarities, but also some important differences.

    I understand the cultural argument, but attending the mosque while believing Jesus is Lord seems like it would confuse everyone involved.
