If you have never heard of Bishop Daniel Obinim (i.e. Angel Obinim), he is probably the biggest lol-cow preacher in the Republic of Ghana. A lot of Ghanians are inclined to agree with this. He is known for his self- proclaimed spiritual powers and extreme Christian practices. He is the Head Pastor of the International Godsway Ministries. During a “deliverance” ritual he was seen stepping on the belly of a pregnant woman. This caused Amnesty International to publicly call for his arrest and prosecution for assault.

In 2016 he declared that he was an angel which led to him being given the name “Angel Obinim” by his church.  He seemed to have conjured up a passport for a church member who lost his.  He told his congregation he could transform himself and others into objects and animals. He explained on his OBTV channel that he could transform into a snake, enter any room, bite his target and disappear afterwards. He claims he can transform himself into an animal and visit people in their dreams.

This miracle claim led to the British High Commissioner to Ghana challenging the pastor to turn into a snake on live television. Of course this claim is only the tip of the iceberg of him being a lolcow in the cloth: Here is a rundown of the ridiculous controversies he has done over the past few years.

1. Human parts scandal: He was alleged to the brain behind a plot to bury dead snakes, bones suspected to be human parts at the church premises of a rival pastor, Prophet Ebenezer Yiadom at Ahenema Kokoben a suburb of Kumasi.

2. Beat up a radio presenter with a crowbar: He went the studios of Hot FM in Accra and attacked Mr Paul Intim, the host of ‘’Nya Asem Hwe’’ programme with a crowbar. He accused the presenter of spreading false news about him.

3. Slept with his junior pastor’s wife: Before Pastor Fobih left the Church, he revealed that Bishop Obinim used juju (witchcraft) to charm his wife. Obinim responded by casting infirmity spell on the pastor’s son and daughter. Yes you read this correctly, he uses witchcraft from time to time.

4. Attacking other Pastors with vulgarity on his television stations and sometimes in his church.

5. Insulted former president J.J. Rawlings and media personality Afia Schwarzenegger on live television

6. His animal transformation claims (already covered).

7. In 2010 before a large congregation in Accra, he mentioned that a female (I am assuming she was a member of the congregation) Florence Nyame had a change in her health status due to her contracting HIV-AIDS. The tearful woman, threatened to take legal action against him after his announcement made her into laughing stock in her neighbourhood.

8. Divorce: Apparently there was some matrimonial scandal in their personal lives and his wife Florence Obinim and a heated quarrel that caused her to pack her bags and take off for London with her two kids. However, they have sinced reconciled.

9. A feud with a voodoo priest: Hundreds of eager spectators converged at Kumasi Jubilee Park to witness the match talk about the spiritual showdown between controversial Bishop Obinim and a renowned Kumasi-based fetish priest, Okomfo Yao Appiah. The voodoo priest claims that it was him and not the Almighty that granted Obinim his special powers. The pastor had a coffin carried to the park where it is said he would invoke God's power to strike the voodoo priest down. When the event ended in a no-show, the priest claimed that the pastor bribed police to prevent him from showing up.

10. Bishop Obinim played and dance to the Ghanaian music artist Atom’s “Yewokrom” song during a Church service claiming he made the song a hit. Musician Atom confirmed by saying he visited the pastor prior to the release of the song.

11. Obinim beats teenagers in Church: In a video which has gone viral on Facebook, Obinim could be seen beaten the teenagers with what appeared to be a belt. He accused the girl as he lashed her of having sex and getting pregnant instead of focusing on work as an apprentice. Whipping the boy for allegedly impregnating the girl. Obinim questioned how he was going to take care of the girl and the baby since he (the boy) was unemployed.

12. Claims he went to heaven and had some kind of an argument with the angel Gabriel
