Algeria Blocks Three News Sites and Criminalizes False News
« on: April 23, 2020, 06:21:47 AM »
Algerian authorities blocked three news websites Interlignes, Maghreb Emergent, and Radiom. This was reported today by the Committee to Protect Journalists. In addition, the Council of Ministers headed by newly elected President Abdelmadjid Tebboune approved a bill amending Algeria's penal code which among other things makes it a crime to spread "false news" that harms national unity. This was recorded in the state-owned news agency APS and Interlignes.
